A walrus hauls onto the blue-edged ice
Published · Updated
A walrus hauls onto the blue-edged ice with its front half rising above the dark water. Long ivory tusks descend beside the bristly muzzle, while small dark eyes remain clear above the folds of skin. Water clings to the thick shoulders and catches the pale light.
The foreflippers press against the rough upper surface of the floe, supporting the animal as its hind body stays in the sea. Ripples spread behind the movement, and the low ice edge reveals a translucent blue band beneath the snow. The water-level view keeps the effort, weight and surrounding Arctic setting together beneath a soft gray sky.
