Cypress knees rise from the autumn swamp
Published · Updated
Cypress knees rise from dark swamp water as rough conical shapes near the camera. Ridged brown surfaces and damp moss reveal their woody texture, while larger flared trunks stand farther behind them. Copper foliage and hanging gray moss fill the upper spaces between the tall trees.
Long reflections continue the vertical forms into the still water, broken by floating leaves and faint spreading rings. A low layer of mist softens the more distant trunks, with a narrow opening of cool light drawing the view deeper into the swamp. The water-level angle connects the unusual near roots with the height and quiet depth of the autumn woodland.
