A cardboard submarine fills the sitting room with a yellow hull, round portholes and an oversized pretend periscope. A boy and girl exchange excited smiles through neighboring openings, with a little illustrated map held inside. Shell details on her lavender dress and the octopus on his blue shirt join the underwater theme.

Paper fish hang above the hull, and a painted sea creature stretches across the pale blue backdrop. Soft coral forms, sea-animal cushions and a small chest bring the adventure down to floor level. Visible corrugated edges, painted seams and the ordinary room beyond keep the fantasy handmade. The children's shared attention gives all that decoration a reason to be there.
