Five figures gather at the foot of the lighthouse shaft, looking toward the bright opening above. A pirate balances on the shoulders of a canvas-suited diver and reaches upward with one open hand. Beside them stand a mermaid in a knitted jumper, a woman wearing broad moth wings and a man in a russet fox costume. Their small circle of colour lies far beneath the curved white walls.

The stairs are absent, leaving a descending line of iron brackets around the tower. Peeling limewash, exposed stone and dark patches of damp make its depth feel tangible. A pumpkin and coils of rough rope rest on the floor, while the dark edge of the gallery frames the near side of the view. Cool daylight catches the mist and softens the worn brass helmet without hiding its seams. The photograph turns a costume gathering into a strange architectural scene, with the upward reach connecting the distant group to the viewer. Its tall composition suits a Halloween wallpaper or a seasonal print with an unusual point of view.
