Frost flowers spread across the blue ice
Published · Updated
Frost flowers rise in small branching clusters from a sheet of blue sea ice. The nearest formations reveal fine needle-like arms with bright transparent tips, while smaller groups spread into the distance. Darker spaces between them expose the smooth frozen surface and a few narrow cracks.
Low snowy headlands frame the far side of the bay beneath a thin apricot horizon. Lavender light reaches across the scene, keeping the ice cool while giving the delicate crystals clear edges. The very low viewpoint makes the tiny clusters easy to study without losing their place in the broad frozen setting around them.
