Frozen Fountain Brightens the Snowy Square
Published · Updated
A frozen fountain rises through the center of a snowy square, its rounded tiers fringed with hanging icicles. Thick curtains of ice partly conceal the carved stone post, while finer needles remain separate around the edges. Low sunlight passes through the clearer sections and gives them a pale golden glow. The frozen water turns a familiar civic feature into an intricate winter form.
Snow caps each broad ledge and settles along the rim of the circular basin. Carved panels remain visible on the outer wall, with darker weathering near the ground. The fountain's stone bowls and central supports can still be followed through gaps in the ice. These exposed details preserve the scale and construction beneath the seasonal coating.
Bare trees reach upward on both sides, their dark branches crossing the soft blue sky. Brick buildings with white window trim enclose the space beyond the fountain. Black benches and glowing lampposts stand beside cleared paths that curve through the snow. With no visitors present, the picture holds on the contrast between warm dawn light, cold ice and the quiet geometry of the surrounding square.
