Gabion steps climb through the autumn planting
Published · Updated
Gabion steps climb through a richly planted autumn slope. Rounded stones fill dark wire cages beneath broad stone treads, and the repeated grid remains visible along each riser. A thin wet sheen brightens the pale slabs, with a few fallen leaves resting near their uneven edges.
Purple asters press close to the lower steps beside green foliage and tall copper grasses. More flowers and seed heads continue uphill toward a clipped hedge, with orange-leaved trees rising beyond. The low diagonal view follows the staircase through the planting while keeping the nearest cage corner and its packed stones clear. Soft overcast light brings out the contrast between wet metal, rough rock and fine stems.
