A gold confetti pinata has just opened above four children gathered beneath a wooden pergola. White paper bands cover its rounded top, while shiny gold fringe catches the garden lights below. One girl holds the long pull ribbon as pastel circles tumble through the centre, and the others lift their hands to meet the falling paper.

Whale prints, broad stripes, blue flowers and red gingham give every child a different outfit within the lively group. Their faces turn upward at different angles, following the same brief burst of colour. A party table, balloons and planted borders remain behind them in the dusk. The warm bulbs and cooler sky keep the celebration bright without losing the quiet garden setting.
