Inflatable Art Pavilion in a Stone Square
Published · Updated
An inflatable art pavilion brings soft coral domes and a taller yellow cone into an old stone square. Rounded tunnels connect the forms, and light glows through the fabric around the entrance. Seams, ties and anchored edges remain visible, giving the unusual shapes the practical details of a temporary structure.
The illuminated fabric domes contrast with shuttered windows and the heavy masonry around them. Wet paving picks up their color while a broad twilight sky opens above the rooftops. This view of temporary public art leaves the surrounding square in the frame, showing how a small cluster of soft forms can change the atmosphere of an existing place.
