White Wind Sculpture inside a Basalt Quarry
Published · Updated
A white wind sculpture sweeps across a dark basalt quarry in overlapping translucent sails. Visible poles, ties and cables hold the fabric at different heights, while seams and wrinkles show how each surface responds to the breeze. The anchored sails form an open passage rather than a closed building.
From a high rock shelf, the view follows the lower curled sheet toward taller membranes against the quarry wall. Small plants in the cracks and wet patches on the stone keep the place specific. White fabric and dark basalt give each other a strong visual boundary, yet light still passes through the thinner layers. The installation makes air movement visible through ordinary material arranged at an unexpectedly large scale.
