Leaf-tailed gecko at the lit window
Published · Updated
A leaf-tailed gecko crosses the outside of a lit window at blue hour. Its mottled tan and olive body lies close to the glass, with four splayed legs and broad toe pads forming small points of contact. The wide tail trails behind like a weathered leaf. A large eye and delicate skin fringes remain visible along the head and back.
Rain beads dot the pane around the animal. Warm light from a woven lampshade inside the room passes through the thin edges of the toes and catches the damp window frame. Reflections stay faint enough to keep the gecko distinct from the indoor furniture beyond it.
Outside, dark tropical foliage descends toward a hazy blue hillside. Rough timber, wet leaves and the overhanging roof make the window feel part of a humid forest dwelling. The scene sits at the boundary between two kinds of light: the cool evening outdoors and the small warm interior, with the climbing gecko connecting both spaces.
