Lightning forks beyond the desert cacti

Published · Updated

Lightning forks beyond the desert cacti beneath a broad dark cloud base. The bright distant discharge briefly separates the gray rain curtain from the violet shadows around it. Smaller cactus silhouettes rise at different distances across the plateau, leaving much of the sky open.

A narrow amber band stays visible near the horizon, while damp reddish gravel and low scrub catch faint cooler highlights below. The elevated wide view gives the storm room to spread across the landscape, keeping the nearest plants small beside the weather beyond them. Detailed cloud layers and the single branching bolt create a moment of sharp light within a much heavier evening scene.
