Painted beehives brighten the autumn orchard
Published · Updated
Painted beehives brighten the autumn orchard with large flowers and contrasting fields of color. The nearest stacked boxes shift from pale lavender to deep violet, with red-orange poppies rising on slim green stems. Recessed handholds, joined timber corners and a flat metal lid remain visible beneath the decoration.
Turquoise and mustard hives stand farther among the trees, each with a different simple botanical pattern. Small bees approach the narrow entrance near the bottom of the closest box. Copper leaves, fallen apples and uneven grass place the painted structures within a working orchard, while dappled light catches the brushwork and the practical edges of the hive bodies.
