A Rainbow of Paper Figures
Published · Updated
Long curtains of paper figures fill a tall old hall with bands of colour. White and violet shapes near the ceiling give way to blue, green, rose, orange and yellow lower down. Each small figure has a simple round head and outstretched arms, and the repeated cut silhouettes remain individually visible within the dense hanging layers. Fine threads connect them to a neat grid overhead.
The installation parts around an open passage, allowing a view toward a small window and an empty wooden bench at the far wall. Tall arched windows on the left admit warm autumn light, which catches the paper edges and spreads soft patches of colour across the worn floorboards. The pale plaster walls have a little age and unevenness, adding a quiet contrast to the crisp shapes. Viewed from a dark doorway, the bright hanging field feels deep and generous. Small gaps between the chains keep the whole arrangement airy, with new layers revealed across the room.
