Polarized Crystal Patterns Like Feathered Fans
Published · Updated
Polarized crystal patterns open into a field of feather-like fans in this microscopic view. Branching needles cross one another at irregular angles, with interference colors moving from amber and coral to cyan and indigo along their edges. Dark gaps interrupt the dense structure and make the finer boundaries easier to see.
The arrangement suggests a much larger landscape without losing its small-scale texture. Hairline divisions, overlapping shards and differently sized fans give the image variation from edge to edge. No equipment or labels surround the view; the microscopic texture supplies the entire scene. Its interest comes from looking closely at something ordinarily too small to notice, where physical structure and optical color produce an unexpectedly elaborate pattern.
