Pumpkin Fish in the Harvest Court
Published · Updated
Enormous fish seem to swim through this autumn courtyard, their rounded bodies assembled from hundreds of small pumpkins and gourds. Orange dominates the forms, with cream and deep green patches running along their sides. Long narrow gourds create the broad fins and tails, while round eyes and curved mouths give each sculpture a lively expression. Dark supports beneath the bodies make the ambitious construction part of the visible design.
The setting extends the harvest palette across the ground. White pumpkins gather around tawny grasses, chrysanthemums and copper foliage, with fallen leaves scattered over damp cobbles. Tall conservatory windows and a glazed dome rise behind the display, providing an elegant contrast to the playful shapes. Bright autumn light reveals the ridges, stems and slight differences between individual gourds. The photograph is full of ideas for large seasonal installations, garden celebrations and imaginative uses of familiar harvest materials. Its layered view rewards both a quick glance and a closer look. It is free to use for personal and commercial projects.
