An old wooden wheelbarrow stands beside the open doors of a red barn, its rusty iron wheel resting among grass and fallen leaves. Orange pumpkins rise above its rim alongside pale cream, blue-grey and dark green squashes. Dry curved stems and bumpy skins give the harvest a mixture of shapes and textures.

A tabby cat sits upright on a straw bale near a pitchfork leaning against the barn. Warm afternoon sunlight picks out the worn wood and peeling white door trim while the barn interior stays dark. Yellow maple leaves scatter across the ground, extending the autumn colours into the foreground.
