Reed houses rest on a floating island
Published · Updated
Reed houses stand on a thick floating island, their steep thatched roofs rising above a visibly fibrous mat. Small dark doorways punctuate the golden surfaces, while bundles of cut reeds lean into tall conical stacks nearby. The different roof heights and irregular spacing give the compact settlement a natural rhythm.
A plain wooden boat sits beside the island edge, tied to a short stake. Cool blue water fills the foreground with gentle reflections of the reeds and roofs. Farther away, bare mountains fade beneath a pale peach sky, leaving a broad open setting around the small buildings and the warm, textured material from which they are made.
