The Amber Glass Lift Hall

Published · Updated

Tall panels of amber glass rise above three bronze lift doors, bathing this empty hall in warm light. Slender dark lines divide the glowing surfaces, while deeply fluted columns climb towards the ribbed dome overhead. The clear blue of evening remains visible through the upper windows, with dark trees beyond the glass. Together, the warm interior and cool sky give the towering room its rich colour.

A curved balcony crosses the left side of the hall, its fine metal railing following the rounded edge. Beneath it, an adjoining lounge contains low chairs, shaded lamps and a tall arrangement of flowers. These smaller details establish the scale of the columns and leave a quiet place to pause beside the grand entrance.

Dark marble spreads across the foreground in broad veined slabs, carrying soft reflections of windows and lamps. Pale curved bands in the floor echo the balcony above and lead towards the lift doors. The unoccupied composition brings together glass, bronze and stone in a spacious study of evening light. Free reuse includes personal and commercial projects.
