Round funicular cabins enter the mountain station
Published · Updated
Round funicular cabins climb into a sheltered mountain station, their yellow rims framing dark glass and warm interior lights. The nearest cabin has almost reached the covered platform, while the others follow at progressively lower points on the steep chassis. Wet rails, steel supports and small wheel assemblies remain visible beneath the passenger compartments.
The station roof forms a broad dark edge across the top of the view. Timber boards and beams create a close, solid foreground, and a few ordinary lamps cast amber reflections onto the damp floor. Outside that shelter, low cloud moves between wooded slopes. Patches of copper foliage, a distant lake and pale mountain ridges appear through breaks in the mist.
The long diagonal railway joins these two different spaces. Its hard metal lines lead from the nearby platform toward a valley that is partly hidden by weather. Reflections on the curved cabin glass carry traces of both the lit station and the gray outdoors, making the arrival feel like a gradual passage into warmth.
