Sea turtle hatchlings cross the dawn beach
Published · Updated
Four sea turtle hatchlings cross the dawn beach toward a thin line of surf. Dark ridged shells cover their small bodies, with paddlelike flippers pressing into the damp sand. Shallow trails remain behind them as the group moves in an uneven staggered arrangement.
The nearest turtle is large enough in the frame to show its scaled head and the separate edges of its shell plates. The three farther animals become softer with distance but stay clearly distinct. A low peach sun reflects across the wet shore, while the open sea remains cool blue. The ground-level view gives the tiny travelers space within the broad beach and keeps the approaching wave beyond them.
