The Bright Plate Wall Dining Salon
Published · Updated
Rows of small decorative plates climb almost the full height of this dining salon. Mustard, plum, coral, celadon and cream dishes each carry a simple botanical pattern, with pale plaster visible between their raised rims. The orderly arrangement gives a familiar household object an unexpected architectural presence, especially beside the tall windows and narrow upper gallery.
A long walnut table stands below the display, its scalloped apron visible between olive velvet chairs. Brass candlesticks, a bowl of pears and a leafy arrangement keep the tabletop restrained. Soft autumn sunlight enters through arched windows and falls across the faded rug and timber floor. Copper leaves outside echo the warm colours of the plates without making the room feel crowded. Seen from the doorway, the photograph includes the full relationship between the table, soaring wall and gallery above. It is suited to decorative interior collections, dining-room inspiration and ideas that celebrate ceramics through repetition, colour and careful placement.
