The Burgundy Ribbon Garden
Published · Updated
Low green hedges curl into broad scrolls around beds of deep burgundy foliage. Seen from a stone terrace, the pattern spreads across a long enclosed garden, with lawn paths separating the planted compartments. Conical topiary rises above the low ribbons, joined by small rounded trees on slender trunks. The contrast between horizontal curves and upright shapes gives the garden a clear structure.
A pale urn stands near the center, aligned with a distant arched opening in the enclosing wall. Autumn trees rise beyond the boundary, their gold and copper leaves echoing the warm light on the stone. In the foreground, broad steps and a carved balustrade lead down toward the planting. Fallen leaves and small surface marks prevent the formal design from feeling untouched. This photograph suits garden layout inspiration, seasonal color studies and collections of clipped planting. The elevated viewpoint makes the relationship between paths, hedges and taller specimens easy to see. The photo is free to reuse, including for commercial purposes, with a credit link available here.
