The Bus of Catwalks and Window Seats
Published · Updated
A tabby crosses a curved wooden walkway beneath the glass roof of an old bus. Below, a ginger cat watches from a wide window ledge. Rounded cubbies, stepping shelves and broad platforms connect the different levels, forming a continuous route through the compact interior. Natural branches support the upper paths, while visible brackets and the original metal ribs tie the new woodwork into the vehicle’s structure.
The retained steering wheel and front windshield reveal what the room used to be. Long windows now frame autumn trees, and a glazed roof brings daylight into the highest resting spots. Ferns stand beside the lower shelves, with a rust-coloured bench left for a human visitor beneath the right-hand platform. The clear central aisle keeps the space easy to understand from end to end. Warm plywood curves, sage metalwork and rough woven rugs make the conversion feel connected rather than assembled from separate pieces of pet furniture. Each cat uses a different part of the room, showing how an imaginative small-space design can provide routes to explore as well as quiet places to pause.
