Rounded terracotta apartment towers connect by short bridges above a courtyard with an olive tree, tables, bench and narrow water channel.

The Courtyard of Round Red Towers

Published · Updated

The courtyard feels like a small neighbourhood turned upward. Rounded towers contain ordinary windows and doorways, while short bridges connect their shaded landings. Terracotta tiles cover the outer curves, and deep green-blue recesses give each balcony a little shelter. Plants spill from selected ledges, leaving enough bare wall for the unusual geometry to remain clear.

At ground level, the design becomes quiet and familiar. An olive tree rises from a low circular planter, tables wait near open doors, and a cushioned stone bench follows the wall. A narrow water channel edges the paving without dividing the walking space. A bicycle and a few drying towels make the place feel inhabited even while no one is in view. Sunlight reaches the centre of the court and leaves cool pockets beneath the bridges.

The tall photograph connects these everyday details to the full height of the homes. It is a useful portrait image for a phone wallpaper or a feature about shared spaces and distinctive housing.
