The Earthen Court with a Round Sky Opening
Published · Updated
A slender tree rises from the center of a circular earthen courtyard, its golden leaves spreading into a broad opening to the sky. Closely spaced horizontal ridges circle the ochre walls, following their continuous curve and catching small bands of light and shadow. The wall grows thicker around the upper opening, where a clear blue sky provides a cool setting for the bright canopy. Sunlight reaches one side of the tree and forms a soft patch across the rough clay.
A round planting bed anchors the trunk in the pale stone floor. Low greenery and a few rocks sit against the base of the wall, while a simple curved bench follows the left edge. On the right, a plain doorway gives a glimpse into the garden beyond. Fallen leaves lie across the irregular paving, and the shaded entrance frames the whole space. The unoccupied court brings the texture of earth, the geometry of a circle and the changing color of a living tree into one calm architectural view.
