The Hourglass Lookout Above the Forest

Published · Updated

A tall lookout rises above a forest of gold and copper leaves, narrowing at its waist before opening into a broad circular viewing deck. Crossing rust-colored supports form a transparent lattice around the winding route inside. From the nearby walkway, the entire structure remains visible, from the grounded feet among the trees to the slim railing against the blue sky. Repeated diagonal lines give the tower a changing rhythm as they overlap the horizontal turns within.

The approach is a timber boardwalk with close-set rails, its rain-darkened surface catching small touches of sunlight. It leads through the trees toward the lower opening of the tower. Beyond the upper deck, distant wooded ridges and a sliver of water extend the view across the landscape. The empty walkways make the construction easy to read, while the surrounding leaves soften its precise outline. Warm light brings the steel, timber and autumn canopy into a shared palette, and a dark foreground rail adds depth to the vertical scene.
