The Opal Window Music Room

Published · Updated

The window is the centre of this graceful music room. Its wooden frame rises and falls in a gentle wave, holding large clear panes beneath a band of coloured glass roundels. Cobalt, lavender, pale green and clear glass create a delicate pattern above the coastal view. Outside, trees and flowering plants frame a bright sea and distant cliffs. Sunlight returns through broken clouds, casting soft colours across the polished parquet.

An ivory arch and sculpted columns repeat the window's flowing lines. The ceiling curves gently overhead, while a small grand piano and cream upholstered seating give the space its quiet purpose. White flowering branches appear on both the piano and a small round table, connecting the room to the garden beyond. The furnishings stay low, allowing the glass and landscape to remain visible. Fine wood grain, pale plaster and a floral rug add warmth to the airy interior.
