The Pilot Walking Home by Moonlight
Published · Updated
A small beagle crosses the moonlit field with a pale scarf trailing behind its shoulders. The dark cap and light fabric add a curious detail to an otherwise quiet country view. Its body remains low and natural in the grass, and a long shadow follows across the silvered ground. Around the dog, individual stems catch the moonlight while deeper hollows stay dark, giving the field a soft but richly textured surface.
A roofless farmhouse stands beyond the crossing, its broken gables and empty windows outlined against the hills. Low stone walls continue away from the ruin and divide the rolling fields into irregular shapes. Tall slender trees rise beside the building, while another house sits far away with a few warm windows. Above everything, a bright moon and scattered stars fill the cool blue sky. The low viewpoint includes close rough stones at the edge of the field, then opens into the wide distance. The dog’s small moving shape supplies a gentle point of purpose within the still landscape, heading onward beneath the pale night light.
