The Porcelain Garland Drawing Room
Published · Updated
Raised porcelain garlands loop across the ivory walls and pink ceiling of this graceful drawing room. Tiny green leaves, purple grapes and pale flowers form delicate chains above sculpted urns, their glazed surfaces catching the cool daylight. A crystal chandelier hangs from a long bronze stem in the centre, adding small warm highlights beneath the ceiling. Tall windows framed by moss green curtains look toward bare trees and a quiet stretch of water.
Cream upholstered seats and slender marble consoles leave the elaborate walls open to view. A round dark wooden table holds a single green glass bowl, while a large carpet fills the floor with muted plum, blue and coral patterns. The restrained furniture allows the ceramic decoration to remain the room's main attraction. Seen through a partly open wooden door, the interior combines the intimacy of a drawing room with the height and detail of a small gallery. The photograph invites a closer look at the flowers, glaze and natural winter light.
