Three boys in propeller caps lean over a map table in a timber hangar, absorbed in the next part of their plan. Leather ear flaps, tweed waistcoats and bright metal blades give their everyday conversation an inventive air. One points across the paper while the other two follow the route with serious curiosity.

A brass airship hangs above them, echoing the much larger canvas vessel suspended deeper inside the building. Dark crates, wooden beams and the table edge give the foreground weight. Warm light catches the boys' faces and the small metal fittings, leaving enough shadow around the hangar to make the imagined departure feel close.
