The Rose Orbit Living Room
Published · Updated
Soft rose plaster curves around this coastal living room, joining walls and ceiling in broad, rounded forms. A circular skylight introduces a patch of blue sky overhead, while a much larger round window frames pine branches, rocky coastline and open water. Oval doorways lead through adjoining alcoves at the left. The architecture feels continuous, with shallow steps following the shape of the room and a polished red stone floor extending beneath the furniture.
A low green sofa and deeply rounded armchairs gather around a broad circular table. Their folded, cushioned forms echo the curves of the walls, and their textured fabric contrasts with the reflective stone. On the raised platform behind them, a tall abstract sculpture in green and ochre stands between two small ruby glass lamps. A leafy arrangement and a few simple bowls keep the room furnished without crowding its distinctive shapes. Warm daylight reveals subtle marks in the plaster and the pale veins across the floor, giving this unusual space a tangible, comfortable character.
