The Sculpted Water Stair
Published · Updated
A long chain of stone basins descends through a formal garden, carrying water from the small fountain at the summit. Paired scrolls curl inward along each basin, their worn surfaces marked with moss and pale mineral streaks. The water drops over a series of low lips, alternating between clear pools and fine curtains. The repeated carving gives the cascade a sculptural rhythm that continues all the way up the slope.
Broad walking stairs run beside the water, bordered by tall clipped hedges. Their dark green surfaces frame the pale stone and keep attention on the central sequence. Mature trees stretch overhead, filtering autumn sunlight onto the treads and leaving scattered yellow leaves behind. A simple arch at the top closes the view.
