The Silver Stone Bathing Hall

Published · Updated

Pale turquoise water fills the centre of this monumental bathing hall. Tall rectangular piers create a steady rhythm along the pool, their narrow horizontal stone courses showing subtle variations of grey. Broad ceiling slabs are separated by strips of glazing, bringing soft winter daylight into the room. At the far end, a full-height window frames snow-covered fir trees and a wooded mountain slope, making the warm interior feel closely connected to the season outside.

Wide submerged steps lead into the water at the near left, accompanied by slender metal handrails. Gentle ripples reflect the stone piers, while small underwater lights add a soft glow along the pool edges. A low bench with folded towels occupies one of the sheltered wall niches. The dark textured floor in the foreground has a damp sheen, contrasting with the clear blue water and snowy view. This quiet image offers inspiration for spa spaces, natural stone interiors and restrained architectural lighting. The photograph is free to reuse, including for commercial projects.
