The Tea Room between Koi Windows
Published · Updated
Orange, white and black koi move behind long glass windows on either side of this quiet tea room. The aquariums rest on dark stone bases, bringing the fish close to the height of the built-in seats. Ferns rise behind the tanks, and a lattice of warm timber covers the ceiling. Between the water and the seating nooks, a dry wooden walkway leads toward a planted pond at the far end.
The near table holds two plain cups, with green cushions tucked into the timber bench beside it. Reflections soften parts of the glass without hiding the fish, while stones and aquatic planting add depth beneath the water. Beyond the room, orange and yellow leaves frame a small cascade and a still garden pool. Light from the rear opening and an overhead window falls unevenly across the floor, leaving the nearest seat in shade. This original imagined interior combines the close view of an aquarium with the calm pace of a garden tea room. The photograph is free to reuse in personal and commercial projects.
