The Timber Grid Canopy Above the Garden Square
Published · Updated
A pale timber grid curves upward from broad columns and spreads across a garden square. The intersecting wooden members create a deep pattern of small openings, while larger round gaps bring sky and trees into the canopy. A narrow railing follows the upper edge, revealing a planted walkway above the sheltered court. The timber changes direction continuously from the grounded supports to the overhead surface, giving the structure a clear sense of growth and connection.
Orange-leaved trees stand in low planted beds around the columns, with quiet pale facades beyond. Morning sunlight reaches through the canopy and draws a grid of shadows across the stone paving. Recent rain has left dark patches and small reflections along the raised terrace in the foreground. The view takes in several supports at once, showing how the repeated construction joins into a single broad shelter. With the square empty, the eye can follow the grain, joints and curves of the timber while still seeing the garden and city around it.
