Tiny sand balls fan across the tidal flat

Published · Updated

Tiny sand balls fan across the tidal flat around two dark burrow openings. The nearest field spreads in uneven branching lines, with narrow bare paths dividing clusters of rounded pellets. Fine grains cover each small sphere, and the second pattern sits farther back on the smooth damp sand.

Low sunlight gives the pellets long shadows and brings a warm sheen to the damp tidal flat. A thin wash of water crosses the upper edge, catching bright reflections along its shallow ripples. The close oblique view follows the repeated small forms toward the sea, turning a modest trace of shore life into a broad arrangement of texture, spacing and light.
