Two cranes open their wings above the snow
Published · Updated
Two cranes open their wings above the snow beside a golden reed bed. Their white bodies contrast with black necks and bright red crowns, while dark flight feathers spread along the broad wing edges. One bird rises clear of the ground with both long legs hanging below.
The second crane balances close to the surface, lifting a foot as its near wing reaches outward. Fine snow powder scatters beneath them and catches the low winter light. Separate blue shadows stretch across the uneven white ground, and a soft line of reeds closes the marsh behind. The wide view holds the birds' movement within a quiet open setting rather than crowding their extended wings.
