Windblown waterfall above the dark sea
Published · Updated
A windblown waterfall breaks into white spray at the edge of dark sea cliffs. Water still falls down the rock face, but a fine cloud lifts above the rim and catches the light. The contrast between the falling stream and the scattered mist gives the coast its restless movement.
Wet grass bends across the foreground beside black stones. Below, pale surf gathers around the cliff base, while successive headlands recede toward a silver horizon. A break in the heavy sky illuminates part of the water without turning the whole scene bright. The photograph keeps its sense of scale through rock layers, small waves and the changing density of the spray.
