Wooden tops bring an unexpected contest to the polished table after dinner. The small turned toys carry painted rings around their broad bodies, with upright stems and pointed bases giving their movement a clear shape. Three adult friends lean toward the game, their different expressions showing shared attention and the pleasure of a simple challenge.

A gray mottled cardigan adds soft texture beside a plain plum shirt and a dark teal dress. Warm light falls across the tabletop and picks out the curved edges of the tops, while the booth behind keeps the setting intimate. The low view gives the little moving objects a generous foreground without losing the faces gathered around them.
