Worn Market Crates in a Diagonal Shaft of Sun

Published · Updated

Worn market crates build a staggered maze of open tops and layered handles. Faded pink, cobalt and chalky white stacks surround one smaller lime group, their scratched plastic rims catching a narrow shaft of sun. Dirt gathers in the seams, and the uneven fading gives each shallow crate a slightly different surface.

The nested crate stacks rise to several heights above a rough concrete floor. A high oblique view follows their repeated openings, then drops into the dark spaces between them. The diagonal light touches pale handles and worn corners before reaching the ground. Small scratches, chips and dust give the simple arrangement its texture, while the colored layers carry the wider pattern.
