A pitcher plant opens its striped rim
Published · Updated
A pitcher plant opens its striped green rim above a long mottled chamber. Burgundy patches mark the pale walls, and fine ribs cross the thick rolled edge around the mouth. A raised lid stands above the rear opening, while two fringed ridges run down the front of the pitcher.
A slender tendril connects the lower body to the tip of a broad leaf above. Wet leaves and moss surround the hanging form, with a smaller pitcher receding into softer green shade behind. Gentle morning light catches droplets, tiny hairs and the smooth inner rim, making the unusual plant structure clear without losing its humid garden setting.
