A butterfly roof opens above the grassy slope
Published · Updated
A butterfly roof opens above a timber house on the grassy slope. Its two dark planes lift away from a central valley, with clerestory windows filling the angled space below. Horizontal timber boards surround broad glass doors facing a supported deck.
Slender posts carry the deck down to the hillside, and a straight exterior stair connects it to the gravel approach. Wet grass and scattered stones fill the foreground beneath misty wooded hills. Warm interior light glows through the glass and reflects softly from the damp timber, while the sky remains cool gray. The low oblique view makes the roof shape readable without losing the stairs, supports and sloping ground that give the building its setting.
