A chameleon reaches across the red stem

Published · Updated

A chameleon reaches across the red stem with one front foot extended toward the neighboring branch. Its other feet grip the plant, and the compact spiral of its tail remains clear behind the body. Small green, turquoise and yellow scales form an uneven mosaic along the flank and head.

The raised eye and closed mouth stand out against softer garden foliage. Rain beads cling to the reddish stems, while a red hibiscus flower appears farther behind without covering the animal. The side view includes the full body and the gap between the branches, making the slow step visible within a close setting of leaves, stems and natural color.
