A rabbit noses out of the willow tunnel

Published · Updated

A gray rabbit noses out of a willow tunnel toward a feathery green frond lying on the ground. One front paw rests on the moss, and its body still fills the shaded opening behind. Tall ears turn at slightly different angles. Fine whiskers spread around the small nose, while a dark eye catches a bright point of garden light.

The woven shelter is low and rounded, with bent twigs held together by visible ties. Its far opening lets a little green light pass through. The rough brown wood contrasts with the rabbit’s dense silver fur. Ferns and clover crowd the edges, making the tunnel feel settled into a small planted world.

The wet garden continues upward through pots, flowers and a weathered timber fence. A plain birdhouse hangs above a distant bench. Water glistens on broad leaves and uneven flagstones in the foreground. The low viewpoint gives the animal a strong presence while preserving the surrounding paths and planting. Everything remains close to the ground, at the scale of a curious rabbit’s next step.
