A slot car escape interrupts the canyon race
Published · Updated
A slot car escape calls for a helping hand before the race can continue. One player bends over the near curve and carefully returns it to its lane. He keeps the wired controller in his other hand. Across the table, his friend watches with a smile, pausing his own turn while a cream car waits on the straight section.
The miniature canyon fills much of the foreground. Red-brown rock walls descend around the track, with small evergreen trees planted along the ridges. A metal bridge spans one gap, and thin guide rails follow the winding gray roadway. The scale changes are easy to read beside the player’s hand and the sturdy wooden table edge.
Above the circuit, a rainy skylight looks toward a distant city skyline. Cedar boards and exposed beams give the attic a warm enclosure. A small amber lamp balances the cool daylight. Red, black and white jacket panels contrast with an olive overshirt and ochre tee, while the patterned rug completes a room clearly made for long afternoons of friendly competition.
