A steel ring puzzle fills the lantern pergola
Published · Updated
The steel ring puzzle draws both friends toward the same small junction of polished metal. Each supports a broad ring while studying the curved loop fixed to the table. Their expressions are absorbed and amused rather than triumphant. The woman’s green checked dress and the man’s rust overshirt bring soft fabric textures beside the reflective steel.
A low wooden base holds the puzzle upright on the walnut table. Circular fasteners, rounded rods and the broad grain of the tabletop give the game a clear physical scale. The man rests his free hand nearby, leaving room for the rings to move. A garden path and low planting remain visible beyond the table edge.
Jellyfish lanterns fill the pergola overhead. Blue and ivory domes hang from visible ribs and wires, with long strips of translucent fabric below them. Small warm bulbs illuminate the paper and catch the edges of the metal rings. Cool evening sky shows through the roof structure, extending the scene beyond the close cooperative moment and into the surrounding garden.
