A sunken greenhouse catches the low autumn sun
Published · Updated
A sunken greenhouse catches the low autumn sun across its clear roof panels. The long timber frame sits close to the surrounding soil, while stone entrance steps descend toward an open glazed door. Rows of leafy vegetables grow below the outside ground level, visible through the doorway and sloping roof.
Red chard stems and bright lettuce leaves fill the sheltered beds beside a narrow central path. Outside, wooden raised beds, simple growing supports and small sheds sit among copper-leaved trees. Fine moisture on the panels softens the reflected sunlight without hiding the rafters underneath. The elevated diagonal view shows the entrance, earthen bank and long roof together within the working allotment.
