Thatch roof repair in the evening light
Published · Updated
Thatch roof repair catches the last warm light above a white cottage. A worker kneels on a roof ladder, holding a bundle of golden reeds in place while raising a wooden leggett to shape the surface. His striped burgundy shirt, flat cap and work trousers echo the subdued colors of the roof and surrounding countryside.
The broad slope fills much of the foreground, revealing the layered ends and rough texture of the thatch. Scaffold boards and rails follow the eaves on the right, with a stone chimney rising behind the worker. Beyond the cottage, green fields and hedges stretch toward the setting sun beneath a band of blue grey cloud.
