An archerfish sends a water jet toward the leaf
Published · Updated
An archerfish sends a water jet toward the leaf above a quiet mangrove creek. Its silver body tilts upward beneath the surface, with dark patches along the flank and translucent fins held away from its sides. A fine stream of water rises toward the small fly resting at the leaf edge.
The view crosses the waterline, showing both the green canopy and the submerged roots below. Warm light reaches the stony bottom through the clear shallows, while the nearest dark root curves across the foreground. Tiny droplets near the leaf give the brief movement a precise endpoint within the broader wooded setting.
